This is a short documentary I got to storyboard, act in, and help film and edit, as a student of the Youth Documentary Academy in Colorado Springs. The entire program lasted only seven weeks, so each of the students had to come up with a documentary topic, a story outline and shot list, as well as gather archival footage, secure filming locations, setup and teardown equipment, and shoot scenes.
This was my first venture into documentary filmmaking. It takes a lot of work. You have to be committed. And you can't do it alone. That's what the program, my teachers and fellow classmates/friends taught me. I'm a better person, and it's a better film than it was and could've been, because of their help.
